This metallic type material, which is a blend of mica and is invisible to microwaves, it covers the aperture that the microwaves pass through to get into the oven cavity. When old damp or contaminated can react to microwaves by arcing.

Microwave waveguide replacement

This fitted my cooker model precisely and has been working for many months now without a problem. I was relieved to find the solution to my sparky microwave where the original waveguide had broken and collapsed. There were two in my purchase, the other is a security net and maybe in a year or so I’ll need it but until then all’s good.

Slightly different shape.

Only a 3 star rating left for the product itself. The 1st twin pack Mica was previously purchased in 2023. The 1st replacement Mica only lasted months before needing to be replaced the 2nd. The original Mica that came with the oven lasted 4 years. This latest purchase is a stand by. Let's hope that they're needed much later down the line than the original pack has.
