The Microwave Technologies Association

The Microwave Service Company is pleased to be a member of the MTA. Accessing and sharing expert experienced advice to everyone who wants it regarding all aspects of choosing and using household and commercial microwave ovens.

The Microwave Association was set up in 1978 to ensure that the new technology could be understood and appreciated by all, including the media, public, educationalists and food, microwave and packaging suppliers. More recently the MA has changed it’s name to Microwave Technologies Association to encompass advanced and accelerated heating methods.

Our membership comprises major organisations involved in microwave food product development, technology, design, packaging, oven servicing and manufacture of new models. The MTA meets in London or other regions.

Officers of the MTA sit on the UK Microwave Working Party originally set up by MAFF, Now known as the Food Standards Agency sit on the committee for BSI, advise the Consumer’s Association and HSE, and have an affiliation with all the electrical trade organisations.

Last year, our Information Service responded to over 1000 enquiries. Requests for information and advice came from Government departments, the NHS, media, public, educational establishments and students. Our Website also received over 2.25 million hits.

Our Officers are experts in their field. They provide balanced and factual replies, often in response to misinformed judgement on microwave technology. They are equipped to handle crisis management and have been able to quash potential scare stories before they get into the press.

The MTA gives it’s members networking opportunities and, in doing so, provides a mutual ground for learning and interaction. We are recognised as the authoritative organisation on matters relating to microwave energy.
